Federal Student Loan "Pause" Until May 1, 2022 (at least...)

President Biden has extended the "pause" on federal student loan repayment, which was set to expire on February 1, 2022, to May 1, 2022. Given the mid-term elections coming up in November, it is likely that this will be extended further.

Loan balances have effectively been frozen for nearly two years, with no payments required on most federal student loans since March of 2020. During this time, interest has stopped adding up and collections on defaulted debt have been on hold.
